Emily Sokolow is a classically trained oil painter living in Topanga Canyon, an artist community tucked in the mountains of Los Angeles. Her work explores themes of landscape, memory, rupture and recovery. She is passionate about capturing her surrounding environment to metabolize moments of personal and collective significance. 

Some of Emily's work is inspired by some challenging yet pivotal experiences: living in NYC during cold Covid winters; visiting Israel (a former home) the day before Oct 7;  and the Palisades Fire of 2025 when her Topanga community was evacuated for two weeks. To process these shocks to her system, Emily turned to her easel. ​​​​
